Developer Deals I’ve Bought That You Might Like Too

It’s that time of year again, when everyone is touting their wares at discounted prices, trying to pursuade you to part with your hard earned cash. For us developers too, where there’s so many digital products on offer at the moment it makes it diffult to know what we should be paying attention to. I have picked up a few things in the past that have proved really useful for me that you might like too. They range broadly across everything I need to do as a full stack dev, so design, development and even marketing.

Boost Your Django DX - Adam Johnsons book describes tools and techniques for helping you get the most out of working with Django. He’s a prolific member of the Django community and regularly publishes useful tips on his blog. All of Adam Johnson’s DX books are currently automatically discounted at 50% off.

DaisyUI* - DaisyUI is the most popular Tailwind component library that has a focus on conciseness. It has a over 30 themes built in which means you can quickly adopt and try different styles. Whilst the core library is open source, they have a number of templates in their store that are 30% off. I love Daisy so much even wrote a small collection of components myself using it.

Affinity Tools - I use Serif’s suite of design tools for basically all my design work I need to do. As a mostly-backend dev, that’s creating thumbnails for YouTube videos these days. There’s Designer, Photo and Publisher for a which are sold for one time payment lifetime licence. All of these are great and a nice alternative to Adobes subscription offerings. You can get the lot for £79.99 (50% off) over the holiday.

MotionScribe* - I absolutely love this little Mac app for creating snappy motion graphic style promo videos by hakimel (author of RevealJS). It can work with both simple text and video and can make even the lowliest of ideas look professional is a couple of minutes. Honestly don’t know why I don’t see more people raving about this one. Currently 40% off.

OxbowUI & Lexington Themes - Both of these are by the talented Michael Andreuzza, OxbowUI is a collection of reusable Tailwind components whilst Lexington is varied collection of themes. Both are discounted for the holidays with Oxbow being a steal at just $45.

TailKit* - A nice Tailwind based component library that I picked up with 550+ components, code snippets and templates. These are useful if you’re looking for something slightly different to TWUI. The parent company, Pixel Cave also has a bunch of clean themes that are discounted at the moment. Currently 50% off until 2nd December or the first 100 sales.

Complete Guide to CSS Flex and Grid - This ebook by Shruti Balasa provides a great intro to Flex and Grid if you’re just getting started. Includes a curated list of 70 real world examples with working demos. Shruti also has a tailwind course on offer at the mo and both are 60% off.

Even without the offers, all of these are a great addition to your developer toolbox. Let me know if you go for any of them.

Some of the links above are affiliate links, which are marked with an asterisk* which means I’ll earn a small commission should you decide to buy using them
